Josh Crawford is a Senior Fellow with the Pelican Institute and the Director of Criminal Justice Initiatives with the Georgia Center for Opportunity where he leads their public safety and re-entry work.
A nationally recognized expert on gang violence and criminal justice policy, he has testified before local and state legislative committees as well as Federal agencies and a Presidential commission. A former prosecutor, he now frequently authors technical reports on gang violence, authors state legislation, and provides technical assistance to city governments on implementing policy changes.
His work can be found in National Review, the Washington Examiner, and Chicago Sun-Times among other publications around the country. He also serves as Chairman of the Board of 2X Game Changers, an anti-violence nonprofit in Louisville, KY.
He has a B.S. in Crime, Law, and Justice from Penn State University, a JD from Suffolk University Law School, and a MA in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
