Our Team

Hope Schumaker joined Pelican in 2023 as a policy associate. She graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in political science, where she honed her writing and research skills.

While at LSU, she was assistant of the Eric Voegelin Institute, where she worked to promote the EVI through communication and administrative support. Additionally, she developed an appreciation for policy and advocacy through her involvement with student government.

Hailing from Lafayette, Louisiana, Hope lives in Baton Rouge with her husband and son. She enjoys backpacking and game days in Death Valley.
