Sal E. Montalbano

Law Clerk

Sal E. Montalbano is a proud native of Louisiana, born in New Orleans and raised in Ascension Parish. As a Law Clerk at the Pelican Institute, he is committed to advancing free-market solutions and meaningful reforms that help unlock Louisiana’s full potential.

Sal began his academic journey at Nunez Community College in St. Bernard Parish, where he was also a member of the Nunez baseball team. He later transferred to Louisiana State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration in Law & Government. He is currently entering his final year at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law.

At Loyola, Sal has distinguished himself through both academic achievement and student leadership. He is actively involved in the Maritime Law Society, the Environmental Law Society, and the Federalist Society. He was also selected as an oralist for the Admiralty Moot Court Team, competing in the national Judge John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court Competition. He now serves as Chief of Staff for the Moot Court Board, where he coordinates team operations and contributes to the program’s continued success.

Deeply rooted in his Louisiana heritage, Sal is passionate about building a brighter future for the state through policy innovation, legal reform, and civic engagement. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends—whether at the lake, on the golf course, or at sporting events.
