Open the checkbooks on taxpayer-funded spending

Louisiana taxpayers should know how the government is spending their money. But Louisiana’s local school districts are still not required to publish their budgets.

Louisiana’s school districts spend $13,171 per student each year, which is more than any of our neighboring states. And Louisiana schools consistently underperform nationally.

Taxpayers deserve to know: Where is that money going? Accountability and transparency in education are crucial to helping our school districts improve and better educate the next generation of Louisianans.

Most Louisiana government agencies are required to post their budgets on the online taxpayer resource called “Louisiana Checkbook.” Why not school districts?

Sign the petition and tell school districts to join the Louisiana Checkbook!
