RELEASE: Pelican Institute Applauds the House for Passing Individual Tax Reform
BATON ROUGE— Pelican Institute CEO Daniel Erspamer released the following statement upon the passage of HB 278 out of the House:
“The Louisiana legislature took the first step in writing Louisiana’s comeback story. By passing Chairman Bishop’s individual tax rate reform, Louisiana will become more competitive with our neighbors and encourage our friends and family to continue to call the bayou state home.
Louisiana’s tax code is a mess and now is the time to reform it. Creating a simpler tax code that automatically improves over time will allow an increase in investment and job opportunities in our state. Including revenue triggers in the legislation will continue to make Louisiana even more competitive with our neighbors by continuing to cut income tax rates as tax collections increase. We applaud the legislature for taking this great step forward.”
