NEW ORLEANS—The Pelican Institute for Public Policy announced today that Erin Bendily has assumed the role as Vice President for Policy and Strategy. She will spearhead the Institute’s research and policy strategy as well as drive a transformational education reform agenda to ensure every kid has the opportunity to attend a school that best fits his or her needs.

The Pelican Institute adds Bendily as it embarks on an aggressive campaign to change the future of Louisiana. She will oversee Pelican’s policy agenda that will bring jobs and opportunity back to Louisiana families. As Bendily joins the team, she brings with her the experience to expand Pelican’s role as a leader for transformational change that will unlock the potential of every Louisianan.

“If there was ever a time to be focused on transformational reform, it is now, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to work alongside Erin to drive big change for students and families all across Louisiana. There’s no doubt Erin is an experienced and recognized education leader in the state, and she brings the knowledge, experience, and tenacity necessary to help move our state forward so every kid has a bright future,” said Daniel Erspamer, CEO of the Pelican Institute for Public Policy.

Prior to joining Pelican, Erin led the Louisiana chapter of Propel America, a non-profit organization that trains and supports young adults as they transition from high school to careers. She also served as the Assistant Superintendent for Policy and Governmental Affairs at the Louisiana Department of Education for nearly ten years and was a leader in reforming Louisiana’s education system that brought state and national stakeholders together to help every child receive a quality education.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to join the Pelican Institute and step headfirst into reforming Louisiana’s policies to benefit every person in the Pelican State. The Pelican Institute is a leader in common sense policy solutions that ensure every Louisianan has the opportunity to flourish. From education policy to tax reform to occupational licensure, I am excited to lead Pelican’s talented policy team,” said Erin Bendily, Vice President for Policy and Strategy at the Pelican Institute.
